Giant Crane collapse over Primark store in Reading

A crane has collapsed in Reading on top of a Primark store, the 60 meters tall crane working in the area buckled under the weight of its load on Saturday afternoon at 1.52pm on Saturday, July 29.
Hundred’s of shoppers were evacuated from the scene where eye witness reports said that the crane lurched over slowly before crashing, leaving it leaning precariously against the building on West Street.
The crane, which is around 60 metres tall, came to rest against the building in West Street, Reading.
The building used to be a Primark shop, according to the Reading Chronicle.
Police have closed the road and pedestrians and motorists are being told to avoid the area, with buses being diverted.
