Loft conversions are a great way to improve your home and add that extra space for growing families and according to loft conversion companies the are going through the roof.
London particularly with its buoyant property market and glut of tall Victorian houses are prime loft conversion real estate with potential in abundance.
One London company said: “As the housing market in London continues to boom, loft conversions are becoming the most popular home improvement of choice. Many homeowners are either looking to add value to their properties before selling on, or to simply add much needed space to the properties in which intend to stay. Loft conversions have become very popular as they can add up to 30% onto the value of a home which greatly exceeds the cost of the conversion. Very often a loft conversion can mean that a family does not need to move area to find a bigger home, which if you are already living in an area with a good catchment for local schools is very important.”
London has a high concentration of suitable properties for refurbishment including loft conversion projects, because older housing stock often has the easiest roofs to convert.
Victorian, Georgian and 1930’s housing is particularly suited for conversion, whereas newer housing from 1960’s tend to have prefabricated timber frames that require more work to convert, although almost any roof with a head height of 1.9m are suitable for a loft conversion.
