A whopping 90% of applicants for a Skills and Training Fund for small firms run by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) have had their bids approved.
Out of 48 bids from small and micro firms, 43 were successful.
The fund grants up to £5000 for levy payers with less than 50 employees, to provide skills and training to their workforce.
Geeta Nathan, Head of Economic Analysis and Research at CITB, commented:
“We are pleased to see such a high success rate of applicants. This figure shows that smaller firms want to provide their employees with the right skills and training to grow their business and recognise that CITB can help them achieve this.
“We have simplified our funding applications for firms of all sizes, and we want even more firms to apply for this fund when the next round opens in mid-April.”
Richmond North Yorkshire-based Robinson Construction, a concrete pump hire firm who have never before made a bid for CITB funding, will receive over £4000 to upskill their team using CPCS and NVQ’s and deliver a better standard of customer service.
York-based civil engineers, Insitu Technical Services will receive £5000 to qualify their team with Personal Track Safety certificates to overcome the access restrictions they currently face. This will open up new opportunities for work and help to build their business.
Torquay firm Skippy Construction, who specialise in site preparation, will receive £4,200 to upskill and qualify their workers with NVQs and accredited street works qualification, in order to drive their business into new market areas.
