Coleman and Company have been removed as the main contractor after a series of issues at the Didcot Power Station, RWE NPower have been a pointed new contractor Brown & Mason to take over the rest of the contract.

Brown & Mason was brought onto the job in May to takeover recovery works following the boiler house collapse which killed four Coleman employees in February as reported by national tradesmen.co.uk here.

Client RWE has now decided to remove the rest of the site clearance work from Coleman.

Mark coleman tweeted about the new saying “So disappointed…a decision which prevents us recovering our men, Chris, John and Kenny,”

A company statement said: “Coleman & Company can announce that we will not be continuing with the remaining demolition and site clearance work at Didcot A Power Station.

“We would like to thank RWE for their support over the last two years.

“All staff working at Didcot will be redeployed across the company onto other major projects.”

Coleman & Company agreed it was in the “best interests of all parties”.

It had been working at the site for two years before the collapse.

RWE NPower closed the coal-fired facility in March 2013 after 43 years of service, and a programme of demolition work followed.

A major incident was declared at the site on 23 February after the boiler house collapsed.

The remaining section was brought down using explosives in July, but the last of the bodies was not discovered until September.
